Z-Series Spiral-Bevel Gearboxes

Overview:

The new Z-Series Precision Spiral-Bevel Gearbox range was streamlined from the R-Series to increase the number of common parts, while lowering costs and reducing lead times. Available in 7 sizes & 6 model types, they feature high-quality, case-hardened & lapped alloy steel spiral-bevel gears, cut by the Klingelnberg method. This high quality level insures low noise, backlash, and transmission error. Backlash of 10 arcminutes is standard, with the option for <3 arcminutes available on request.

These versatile units can be used as both reducers and increasers. Two shaft, three shaft, forward, neutral, and reverse models are available with horsepower ratings from 2 hp to 540 hp. Solid through-shafts and hollow bores are also available. Efficiency of the units is from 96% to 99%.

New Labyrinth Seal Arrangement:

These gearboxes are now offered with labyrinth seals instead of radial shaft seals. This means that higher operating speeds are possible without the need for external lubrication systems. Speeds up to 3,000 rpm can be obtained without providing the pumps, heat exchangers and reservoirs normally required to operate a high-speed right-angle gearbox.
