Dual-Output Differential Phase-ShiftersNew Innovation in Web Printing Press Drive Trains Overview: The most recent development of differential technology by Andantex is a differential gearbox with two output shafts. One output shaft drives direct from the line shaft to transport the paper, and the second output shaft drives the plate cylinder through a differential to register the impression to the web. The dual output differential is extremely beneficial on printing presses that print on very thin film or very thick cardboard. In each extreme, a change in web tension during register correction provides poor print quality. The advantage of the Andantex system is that web tension does not change during register corrections. Furthermore, the register correction can be done very quickly in both directions because it is not fighting the web tension. Both of these features improve the print quality. Andantex has developed three solutions to this problem based on the standard phase shifting differential product line: 1. Coaxial Solution:
2. Parallel Shaft Solution A:
3. Parallel Shaft Solution B:
The next step in the development process is to provide a unit with two differential outputs. One unit used for phasing and one unit used for web tension control. Customized units are our specialty, and are available upon request. We will modify our standard designs to fit your design specifications (special mounting, ratios, speeds, etc.). To insure proper selection, please consult the factory. If you have any questions regarding the information provided here or require more information, please call us at (800) 713-6170 or e-mail us. Our Sales and Engineering departments are ready to help you with your specific power transmission needs. |
